La Fustella was founded in 2004 through the combination of the psychological and craft expertise of Dr. Alma Cati, psychologist and practitioner with a post-secondary vocational qualification in artistic leatherworking.Her experience in the educational field enables her to understand the expressive power of working with this material, creating a space for social inclusion and creative expression where manual skills become a tool for inclusion, autonomy, and the enhancement of individual potential.The project has developed as a mobile initiative across Puglia and other regions of Italy, bringing the workshop into different contexts and becoming a point of reference for communities, schools, associations, and social cooperatives.Within the workshop, participants are introduced to the basic knowledge of materials, tools, and leatherworking techniques, producing simple and functional items such as bracelets, keychains, wallets, and bags.Leather, often recovered from production scraps, thus becomes a symbol of sustainability and a rediscovery of craft heritage.Who it is forLa Fustella is designed for social cooperatives, associations, schools, and social organisations interested in exploring the art of leatherworking from a psycho-educational perspective.The programme is tailor-made, adapting content, timing, and delivery methods to the needs of each group, and is suitable for all ages.Delivered workshopsπππ«π’
